Adult Education Internship, African Refugee Development Center (ARDC) - Provided by Masa Israel Elite Internships

The intern’s daily tasks will include:

-Coordinating class and tutoring schedules

Interns fluent in Hebrew may choose to teach and tutor in Hebrew.

Program Coordinator, Save a Child’s Heart (SACH) - Provided by Masa Israel Elite Internships

Save a Child’s Heart is an Israeli-based international humanitarian project, whose mission is to improve the quality of pediatric care for children from developing countries. SACH achieves this work by bringing children with life-threatening heart diseases from the developing world to undergo heart surgery in Israel, while also training doctors from those countries to perform such surgeries.

Higher Education Case Manager, African Refugee Development Center (ARDC) - Provided by Masa Israel Elite Internships

Each caseworker has a caseload of about 10-20 clients and will continuously work with schools in Israel, abroad and online.

More specifically, the intern will be tasked with:
-Facilitating the application process by advising students in finding programs in Israel and abroad suited to their needs and interests
-Helping organize and arrange necessary document verification and tests
-Locating and secure scholarship funds for students
-Maintaining communication with alumni clients to ensure success and respond to any challenges
-Facilitating new partnerships with schools and embassies to strengthen the ARDC’s higher education program

-Comfortable working with refugees and asylum seekers from a variety of backgrounds, including those with limited formal education and/or literacy skills
-Fluent English is mandatory, Hebrew is an advantage
-Ability to adapt to changing situations, comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment
-Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
-Responsible, flexible, and dedicated

iEngage Fellowship, The Engaging Israel Project – The Shalom Hartman Institute - Provided by Israel Government Fellows

The Shalom Hartman Institute is a transformative center for thinking and teaching that believes in the power of ideas to bring change. Often consulted for advice by the leading figures in Israeli society and North American Jewry, the Shalom Hartman Institute is the leader in quality, ideas-based Jewish learning. SHI provides programming for a host of institutions throughout Israeli and North American society, including the Israeli secular school system, the IDF, numerous municipalities, and synagogues throughout the world.

In recent years, SHI harnessed its successful ideas-based programming to address the discourse on Israel in North America and created the iEngage Project. The goal of the iEngage Project is to respond to growing feelings of disenchantment and disinterest toward Israel among an ever-increasing number of Jews worldwide by creating a new narrative regarding the significance of Israel for Jewish life. This narrative will serve as a foundation for a new covenant between Israel and world Jewry, elevating the existing discourse from one with a crisis-based focus to one rooted in Jewish values and ideas.

Social Work Internship, Mesila: Municipal Aid Center for Migrant Workers and Asylum Seekers - Provided by Tikkun Olam Tel Aviv-Jaffa  

alt="social work internship israel"While interning at Mesila you will be responsible for conducting intakes and providing referrals for clients from the migrant worker and asylum seeker communities in south Tel Aviv. You will also be given the opportunity to volunteer at one of the unrecognized pre-schools run through social services within the local community.  You may also have the opportunity to provide direct assistance to families with children with special needs to help them receive social service benefits.

Interns at Mesila must be able to read, write and speak in both Hebrew and English – volunteering positions are also available for those with limited Hebrew ability.

Founded in 1998, Mesila is a non-profit organization dedicated to combating poverty by raising public awareness about the importance of financial stability and independence among the refugee and migrant worker communities in south Tel Aviv.

To meet its goals and aspirations, the Israel Tennis Center operates 14 centers complete with cutting edge courts and facilities, and caters to 21,000 children each week. Most of Centers are located in disadvantaged neighborhoods or outlying development towns throughout Israel, from Kiryat Shmona on the Lebanese border in the North to Beer Sheva bordering the Negev Desert in the South.

The Israel Sport Center for the Disabled is one of the world pioneers in the field of sports rehabilitation. The Center opened its gates in 1960 and specializes in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of children and youth. For more than fifty years, our remarkable staff and volunteers have encouraged the disabled to participate in a variety of sports activities and to benefit from the countless ways in which sports is healing.

The spirit and motivation of sport is used to help guide the disabled from a state of helplessness to productive, fulfilling lives. Sports activities contribute more to the confidence, morale, and self-image of the disabled than any other form of rehabilitation. For more than 50 years, the Center’s sports activities have proven to prolong life expectancy of the seriously disabled. Today, more than 3,000 kids and adults participate in 20 different sports activities without discrimination of religion, race, or ethnicity.
